The journey started in 1974 on Willesden High Road, London. Jamal Kadiri, who had arrived from East Africa with little money but relentless drive, built the restaurant from nothing — working factory shifts, selling onions and chicken door-to-door, driving minicabs, saving every pound until he could buy a small premises and open his own kitchen. It was a humble start: chicken and rice for 50p, samosas for 10p, and family members helping run the place because wages were too low to hire staff. But from those beginnings came a restaurant that would become a London institution — known for its honest food, handcrafted spices, and a biryani that locals swear by.
The Dish That Made the Name
Ask anyone in North London what Kadiri’s is famous for and you’ll hear the same word: biryani. Jamal’s process hasn’t changed in 50 years. Spices are roasted fresh in-house, ground by hand, and blended to recipes passed down through the family. Nothing is pre-mixed, nothing is outsourced. That care and patience built a reputation far beyond NW10. The title “King of Biryani” wasn’t a marketing slogan — it was bestowed by Tilda Rice and echoed by customers for decades.
A Focused Menu for Dubai
Now, Kadiri’s is opening its doors — virtually — to Dubai with a cloud kitchen concept. The menu is a curated selection of what made Kadiri’s famous:
– Classic Chicken Biryani – Signature Camel Biryani – A handful of rich, slow-cooked stews like Chicken Tikka Masala
It’s a tight menu, designed to showcase the heart of Kadiri’s — the dishes that made people travel across London just for a plate of biryani.
Same Standards, New City
While the setting is new, nothing about the Kadiri’s philosophy has changed. Spices are still made from scratch, ingredients are still sourced fresh, and the attention to detail that defined the London kitchen now defines the Dubai one.
This isn’t just another Indian restaurant — it’s a slice of London’s culinary history brought to the Emirates, cooked by the same family, with the same uncompromising approach.
Welcome to the Next Chapter
For 50 years, Kadiri’s has been feeding Londoners. Now, it’s ready to feed Dubai. Whether it’s your first taste or a reminder of home, every plate carries the same promise: biryani done the Kadiri way — patient, handcrafted, and proudly worthy of its crown.
